Thanks to all that came out to our September meeting at Black Bay Technologies at 712B Wesley Ave, Tarpon Springs, FL. We saw a few new faces and were glad new people could make it.

The main focus of the meeting was the DEICING of the jetta that is the latest club project. Glad to report the engine, exhaust, and gas tank are now out! The engine's days of spewing exhaust is over.

The secondary mission was to determine how bad the 1981 mercury linx was. We applied electric to the motor and were not surprised to see it not turn. We were able to have it in gear and turn the wheels but the motor could not turn when electric was applied to it. Not sure if we didnt apply enough voltage to it or not. The next meeting we will take the motor out of the linx and dismantle it to complete the testing.

Now the best news yet... the launch of SUNEVA.ORG is complete! go ahead and put SUNEVA.ORG into your web browser and give it a whirl. The site already has the pictures from the meeting plus pictures of Bob Macdonald's S-10 in Weirsdale, FL. This truck was converted by Ken Watkins in Orlando, a very nice job!

The site has a forum for discussion amongst the club and any others who find our site. Not only can we discuss events happening here but give technical advice to any who ask. The links page will include every EV link I can find. Hopefully the other clubs will link back to our site. I have also put in a WIKI that we can complete as a club to guide others in converting cars to electric or advising them about the current EVs that are in concept car stage. Even a background into the EV1 and other EVs that were built by the big car manufacturers then terminated due to "lack of interest"

I'd like to invite anyone who can make it next saturday to go to the FLEAA meeting in boca raton. havent been to one yet and figure its time I go. Anyone else that would like to go, let me know and we see how many people we can fit in my car and if others can drive down as well.

The 1981 Mercury Linx Electrica is at Black Bay. This car was bought new, driven 1800 miles and was left to rot away. The owners were mad at the car because it was slow (only 72 volt system) and had a very limited range.

The car has quite a bit of body rust but it can be repaired. The electric parts will need updating. We can add more batteries to make it faster and increase the range.

This is an excellent club project along side the Jetta we are doing. We will also be doing other projects and help Black Bay build their vehicles as well.

Don't forget to come to Black Bay Technologies at 712B Wesley ave, Tarpon Springs, FL. This Saturday, September 6th. We start at 10am.

September Meeting of the Suncoast EVA (West Coast Chapter of FLEAA) will be Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at Black Bay Technologies at our usual time of 10am.

Black Bay Technologies is at 712 Wesley Ave, Tarpon Springs, FL, 34689

At the meeting will be a 1981 Mercury Linx converted by Jet Industries. The car is badly in need of repair and isnt running. It will be our club project.

We also have a 1999 Volkswagon Jetta ready for conversion to electric. It is currently running with an ICE with 186,000 miles. We will start the process by pulling all the ICE components and discussing what the best method would be to have this car go electric.

The club has an exciting start and many activities. We not only talk about EVs in general, we also will start to make one and bring others back to life! Please come join us for an exciting day!

The Suncoast EVA now has a club project vehicle! Its a 1981 Jet Industries Mercury Linx. Unfortunately it is not running at the moment so will make a good project. The first step of the ICE removal is done and the conversion is done, we just need to update it.

The next meeting is going to be in september, the date is being discussed

I never thought there was so many EV distributors out there, I am thinking about opening a EV dealership. What do you think is the best EV out there, in the sense of style, mph, and cost for the general population. btw I'm in south florida.

The Florida Electric Auto Association is starting very good trends of Electric Vehicles, serving as non-profitable organization. There are lots of benefit using the Electric Vehicles. Electric Vehicles association should open whole around the world , all the organization should be non –profitable .
